TKKYIA 2010 has been successfully completed. Mr Tay would like to thank the following members:

3. Thanks to Zhi Tao for standing-in as Hong Yu. He was so professional that he introduced himself as Hong Yu to the visitors there ;p
4. Thanks to JIELING for helping out as the official photographer for the event. She was so professional that she took pictures of little toddlers and another prize winner from ACS , promising to send him the photographs she took

Shortlisted Interview @A*Star Building

6 members attended the shortlisted interview @A*Star Building last saturday 13 March and it was quite a nervy experience for Gui Er, Josie, Paul and Hong Yu as they are presenting their inventions in front of TKKYIA judges for the 1st time. Also, even though Zhao Yi had some prior experience in 2009, she was alone this time round as Robyn are not able to go. So Zhao Yi deserved additional mention as she bravely presented on her own on that day. Well done all of you. U have indeed do yourself proud by coming this far. Results once known will be disseminated to u immediately. Below are some photos for u all to savour the moments again...

Its 2010! And a warm welcome to all members on your return to school. Some updates pertaining to D&T Club:
(1) TKKYIA results will be out in Feb 2010.
(2) D&T Club activities will ONLY be held on Wednesdays from this year onwards
(3) Club will officially start on 20 Jan 2010. On 13 Jan, Mr Tay would like all Sec 2 members to meet up (You all can decide your own location to meet up)to discuss possible plans (Eg games) for Sec 1 welcome party likely to be held in March 2010. Terence from 1-Responsibility 2009 and Bang Yi from 1-Compassion 2009 will collate and pass to Mr Tay the points of discussion.

Hi everyone, the committee will be organizing a club BBQ as a form of bonding and also farewell to the current Secondary 4s who will be leaving us soon. Jieling (Our club secretary) has graciously offered the BBQ pit at her place. Attendance is strongly encouraged (meaning compulsory but Mr Tay says that he doesnt really want to force ppl to come). Now is the time to start preparing for your TKKYIA 2010! Preparation will be from now till 27 Nov 09 [Mon- Fri 8am-3pm]. You are to form your own group (preferably 2 person) and see Mr Tay with a list of problems you both had generated.

For the Secondary Ones... this is what you have to do:
(1) Find a partner (or two) - someone whom u think u can work with
(2) Brainstorm and pen down the things that either (a) Interests you or (b) Irritates you
(3) What u have gotten in (2) will be the problems for your TKKYIA- rem: Theres no need to think of a solution at this point of time
(4) See Mr Tay with the list of problems within the next few days while the 'problems' are still fresh

The Award Ceremony for the abovementioned will be held on 21 Aug 09 (Fri) @Lt26 @Ngee Ann Polytechnic. All participants (Ng Paul Seen, Hong Yu, Dionne Teo, Elaine, Josie and Gui Er) are expected to be present. Results will only be released on that day. Please go and see Mr Tay on Wed 19/8 after school to try the blazers.

Sec 1 and 2 members are expected to attend the event and learn from the exhibits. Excuse letters and consent forms will be given. Respective Level Reps please see Mr Tay on Tuesday 18/8 (either during recess/ after school) to get the necessary forms.

Once again we are back on this stage- Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors' Award Competition Prize Presentation. I am proud that we manage to win the School Award (2nd Placing). Though the $2000 has been donated to the school, the fact that we have done well is good enough. Congrats to those prize winners and for those who didnt win or came close.. lets try again next year!

Results for Ideas-in-action is out! Congratulations to Paul and Hong Yu for being selected on their invention: Purse-2-Bag!

The two boys should be very proud of themselves as they are among the 140 teams selected out of a total of 540 shortlisted teams. Their invention will be given a funding of $200 and they are to use this cash to develop their idea further and better. Congratulations once again! =)

There are some of you who wanted the new Tee to have a hood and also in long sleeves. However, Mr Tay checked that such a new Tee will cost $30+. A few of you have reflected that you don't mind forking out $20 for the Tee and the rest borne by 'sponsors'. Hi ppl! We're thinking of having an outing to...somewhere on either the 29 or 30 of Nov. Do u guys wan the outing? If u guys wan, can u pls leave a tag indicating which day u wan and give suggestions for the venue and activity? We do have a few ideas in mind, but dunnoe u guys wan anot. It has to be something dat we'll all enjoy together, dat's y its a club outing. :) eh. we're thinking of trying something different, maybe ice skating, bowling or bungee jumping without ropes? hehe. jkjk. There will be a Ideas-in-Action Culmination Exhibition next friday (12 Sep) at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. All Secondary One members are expected to attend the exhibition. Your Sec 1 Level Representative (Desiree Teh from 1D) will pass you the consent form and excuse letter next week.

All members are to submit a minimum of two design problems by the end of next week (12th Sep) to Mr Tay. Ways of submission can be through email (ahsdntclub@hotmail.com) or sms Mr Tay etc.
